Thomas Townsend Brown & Dendera
I recently came across a quote in Paul Schatzkin’s book, “The Man Who Mastered Gravity" which explores the life and work of Thomas Townsend Brown.
I recently came across a quote in Paul Schatzkin’s book, “The Man Who Mastered Gravity: A Twisted Tale of Space, Time and The Mysteries In Between,” which explores the life and work of Thomas Townsend Brown.
Brown was an American physicist and inventor known for pioneering theories linking electromagnetic and gravitational fields, building on concepts initially theorized by Albert Einstein. He moved beyond theoretical work to practical experimentation, developing disc-shaped devices believed to generate and manipulate temporary, localized gravitational fields.
Brown’s work was highly controversial, largely due to its resemblance to the propulsion methods associated with observed UFOs, which fueled intrigue and skepticism alike.
Below is a quote from the book describing the experiment that sparked Brown’s lifelong passion for what he termed “electrogravitics”—a unique and unconventional phenomenon, or anti-gravity force, generated by the influence of an electric field on a mass:
“According to Kitselman, young Thomas Brown looked to the heavens, dreamed of traveling among the stars – and pondered the means of propulsion by which that might be accomplished.
He dismissed rocket power as “a brute and awkward force,” and wondered if electricity could shrink the distance between the stars more efficiently than the controlled explosion of combustible gasses.
Such thoughts simmered as his CalTech physics class conducted experiments with an X-Ray tube.
While the rest of the class was focused on the tube itself, “Tom” observed that when a high-voltage current was applied, the cables connecting the tube to the power supply appeared to jump with snake-like convulsions.”
The X-ray tube mentioned here is the Coolidge tube, an advanced evolution of the Crookes tube that significantly enhanced efficiency and control over X-ray production.
While it could be purely coincidental, the effects observed in the Coolidge tube bear a striking resemblance to the imagery found in the secret crypts of the Hathor Temple at Dendera, often referred to as the “Dendera light.”
In this episode, we discussed the potential technical interpretation of this Dendera artwork and its intriguing connections -
I’d like to highlight that the snake is a prominent element in the Dendera artwork.
The resemblance between the Dendera images and the Crookes tubes goes beyond appearance; it extends to their structural similarities.
The artwork at the Dendera Temple doesn’t just superficially resemble these early tubes but mirrors the very structure of the Crookes tubes—the same devices that later enabled Röntgen to investigate radiation effects and discover X-rays when energized by high voltage.
In this context, Townsend’s observation that “when a high-voltage current was applied, the cables connecting the tube to the power supply appeared to jump with snake-like convulsions” adds another layer of intrigue, suggesting an interesting “coincidence” with the ancient Egyptian imagery.
This experimental observation profoundly impacted Townsend as a young student, inspiring his lifelong work on electrogravitics, much of which was conducted under the veil of secrecy at the United States Naval Research Laboratory, one of the most prominent institutions for classified research or “secret science”.
It’s also here that Townsend was allegedly involved in the Philadelphia Experiment—a controversial U.S. Navy experiment that reportedly resulted in the “accidental teleportation of the warship USS Eldridge.”
